A starting point for getting familiar with the Vista environment and its
commands are the man pages. Start with 'man Vtutorial'
and 'man Vista'; 'man Vindex'
will give you the list of programs that you can run from the command
line. Each program has its own man page.
A short introduction to the Vista programming environment can be found here. Use 'man Vlib' for a list of built-in library routines and 'man VImage' to find out more about the image data structures used. The directory /usr/local/src/vista/examples contains code for all the examples described in the introduction to Vista. The Vista sources are commented can be very instructive: /usr/local/src/base/pgms contains source code for the programs and /usr/local/src/vista/src/base/lib contains source code for the library routines.
