Problems
After much experimentation, a few problems have been discovered with this approach:
- Outdoor scenes will saturate the camera with infrared
- Reflections from eye-glasses and other reflective materials
- Items that may completely obscure reflections of the pupils, such as masks, hair, or sun-glasses
- Eye abnormalities
- Head orientation may cause partial or full occlusion of one or both eyes
Each of these problems may be reduced or eliminated by using the methodology of this research in conjunction with other approaches.
