The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is a fast growing department with an outstanding faculty, keeping pace with the rapid proliferation of, and advances in, computing and information technologies. Our commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and our strong graduate research programs provide the solid foundation and modern tools required to produce well-prepared, indispensable computing professionals.

Degrees Offered

The department offers two bachelor of science degrees: Computer Science and Computer and Information Engineering.

Three advanced degrees are also offered: Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering.

Accreditation

The bachelor degree programs are accredited by ABET formerly known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The Computer Science Program is accredited by ABET (CAC) and the Computer Information Engineering Program is accredited by ABET (EAC). Accreditation is an important consideration for students who seek professional recognition or licenses. It assures future employers that you have received a quality education.

Career Opportunities

The employment outlook for computer scientists and computer engineers is very good. Graduates may work for private companies or for governmental agencies at local, county, state, or federal levels. Jobs can be with small or large companies and in cities of any size.
