Computer science concentrates on theory, design, and applications of digital computers and information-processing techniques. It includes areas such as computer architecture, machine vision, machine learning, robotics, embedded systems, parallel and distributed computing, software engineering, computer games, and graphics.
Degrees Available
Computer & Information Engineering
Computer engineers deal with all aspects of computational devices and systems, including both hardware and software. They work in the areas of computer elements and architectures, data storage and processing systems, embedded and real-time computing, and computer networking.
Degrees Available
Digital Interactive Games
The games industry offers a variety of jobs (artist, programmer, producer, engineer) in a number of disciplines (arts, computing, business, music). With a strong gaming industry present in Reno and flourishing games industry in the nearby Bay Area, the Computer Science and Engineering Department offers a Minor in Digital Interactive Games.
This minor is open to all students.
We especially encourage students from Art, Journalism, Education, anyone interested in simulations and in computer and video games to consider pursuing this minor.
Degrees Available
Computer Science as a Second Major
Students may elect to pursue an undergraduate degree in Computer Science in addition to another science- or engineering-related degree.
