Presentations on the Access Grid Node
Faculty and staff presentations may be given at the Access Grid Node when no other videoconferencing
use has been scheduled. When giving a presentation, please use the instructions on this page as
a guideline for loading and starting the presentation.
Logon to the AGN Computer
The AGN computer has a restricted user account which allows guests to load and show
their presentations on the AGN computer, as well as make basic videoconferencing connections.
Use the following information to logon to the AGN computer:
- Username: AGN
- Password: grid
Load a Presentation
Microsoft PowerPoint presentations may be loaded onto the AGN computer via CD, floppy, USB flash drive,
and Internet download. To ensure that all files relevant to the presentation (e.g. movies, pictures, etc.)
are available, the presentation file and all external files should be copied to the desktop of the
AGN computer before beginning the presentation. This ensures that access delays to the external media
do not affect the presentation.
Start a Presentation
Once the presentation and all external dependencies have been copied to the desktop of the AGN computer,
the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation can be opened and the presentation started. To start the presentation,
select Slide Show -> View Show, or press F5. By default, the presentation will
be displayed on the center projector while the slide layout screen will remain on the LCD monitor. This
configuration allows the presenter to maintain control of the presentation without interrupting the
slideshow on the center projector.
Transitioning between slides is accomplished in the usual ways - mouse clicks, keyboard control, or preset
slide timers will cause the slides on the center screen to transition. To control the transitions using
the mouse, the presenter must first click on the slide show (on the center screen) to make the window
active. Following this action, mouse clicks on that window will produce the usual PowerPoint menus
and slide transition actions.
Clean Up
Once a presentation has been completed, it is courteous to remove the presentation files from the AGN
computer. Please move the presentation and all associated files to the Recycle Bin of the computer,
then right-click the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin to permanently delete the files.
Please note that any files left on the AGN computer will be removed at the discretion of the AGN
administrator. The AGN is not to be used as a storage system for any faculty, staff, or students for
any reason. Consequently, files will be removed from the system without any notification.
