- Log on to Webmail
- Click the Inbox icon located along the bottom menu
- Click the Options icon located along the top menu
- Click Personal Information
- Click Edit Your Identities
- Select Default Identity from the drop-down menu
- Enter the name and e-mail address you want others to see when you send them messages
- Click Change
Receiving E-mail
How to I setup e-mail forwarding to another address?
Your Department of Computer Science & Engineering e-mail account can be configured to automatically
forward any received mail to another e-mail address. To do this, you will need to
connect to one of the Computer Science & Engineering servers using one of the workstations, or remotely,
using one of the remote terminal programs listed in the
Remote Access Software section. Once
you have logged on to the server, follow these instructions:
- From your home directory, you need to edit the ".forward" file using a text editor
(e.g. pico)
pico .forward
- Enter the e-mail address that you wish messages to be forwarded to, pressing Enter at the end of the address
- Save the file by pressing CTRL+O and pressing Enter when prompted for a filename
- Exit pico by pressing CTRL+X
Sending E-mail
I can receive e-mail, but why can't I send any messages?
This problem occurs because, while you can access e-mail from any University of Nevada, Reno
e-mail server from any computer, you can only send mail using your account if you
are on campus, or if you are using Webmail.
Otherwise, you will only be able to receive e-mail messages using your account
and must send messages using another Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you are
on campus and are unable to send e-mail, please check your mail settings using
the E-mail Configuration page to
ensure that your mail program is configured correctly.
