Remote Access Configuration
This section provides the information necessary to configure remote access applications to connect to the Department of Computer Science & Engineering servers. Step-by-step guides are available for configuring WinSCP and SSH. For other applications, typically all that is required is the name of the server you wish to connect to (e.g. banyan.cse.unr.edu) and a Computer Science & Engineering computing account.
Step-By-Step: WinSCP
  1. At the WinSCP Login screen, create a new connection by clicking New
  2. Under Host Name, enter the address of the server you wish to connect to (e.g. banyan.cse.unr.edu)
  3. Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields
  4. Enter your name, e-mail address, username, and password
  5. Click Save...
  6. Enter a name for the session and click OK
  7. Click Login to connect to the server
Step-By-Step: SSH
  1. From the main SSH window, click the Profiles icon and select Add Profile...
  2. Enter a name for this connection and click Add the current connection...
  3. Click the Profiles icon and select Edit Profiles...
  4. Select the connection that you just created in the left pane
  5. Under Host Name, enter the address of the server you wish to connect to (e.g. banyan.cse.unr.edu)
  6. Enter the server addresses using the Server Information above and click Next
  7. Enter your username
  8. Click OK
  9. Click the Profiles icon and select the connection that you just created to connect to the server
