Programs

When asked on an advisement form to list his reasons for choosing Computer Science & Engineering as his major, a recent freshman at UNR wrote the following:

"...be creative, have fun doing my job, earn good money, and accomplish some important things."

To help him and many other individuals interested in computing-related careers, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering offers various graduate and undergraduate programs. Additionally, the department offers programs of study leading to a dual-major or second major in Computer Science, a minor in Computer Science, and service courses to students in science and engineering fields. Currently, the undergraduate programs comprise over 300 students; graduate programs encompass more than 80 students.

Undergraduate

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
A degree that prepares students for careers as innovators and researchers

Bachelor of Science in Computer & Information Engineering
A degree involving the research, design, development, manufacture, and testing of complete computer hardware and software systems

Minor in Computer Science
A minor which can be added to many fields of study

Computer Science as a Second Major
An additional major which may be added to many scientific and engineering programs

Graduate

Master of Science in Computer Science
An advanced degree focusing on the development of software for complete computing systems

Master of Science in Computer Engineering
An advanced degree focusing on the development of hardware for complete computing systems
