Objective
The objective of this lab is to give students hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting basic digital circuits. This hands-on experience reinforces the abstract concepts presented in the class lectures and textbook.

• Logic gates
• Logic expressions and Karnaugh maps
• Adders
• Decoder design
• Logic circuits
• Multiplexers
• Counters
• Sequential logic
• VHDL for combinational and sequential designs

Course Policies

• Lab Rules
• Students must be responsible for cleaning their station before leaving the lab.
• Students can access the lab at any time, except during other scheduled lab sessions.
• [Important] Students must copy their results to their own disks, flash drives, or recordable CDs.
  Any files saved on the computer hard disk will automatically be deleted whenever the computer is shut down.
• Note: Students can work in groups of two (at most three), but must turn in individual lab reports
  consisting of their own work. Plagiarism will be not tolerated.
• Each student must have a prototyping breadboard and jumper wire kit for building digital circuits,
  implementing the circuits on his/her own breadboard, and show his/her results to the lab instructor.
  (The JE-24 prototyping breadboard and JE-10 jumper wire kit are available at the ASUN University Bookstore).
• Each student is responsible for reading [and optionally printing out] each week's lab prior to the start
  of that respective lab.
• Lab Reports
• Lab reports are due one week after the lab.
• Lab reports must be turned in at the beginning of the current lab session.
• Lab reports must be typed-written. Hand-written lab reports will not be accepted.
• Late lab reports will not be accepted, except in the case of a documented emergency.
• Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Students who submit evidently identical lab reports or have not
  implemented circuits on their own individual breadboard will receive zero points for that respective lab.
• Homework Format
• Title page (type-written): Homework number, the course, section number, date, course instructor.
• Shown work page(s): These may be typed or hand-written.
• Arrange the work so the problems are in order. ie: 1, 2, 3, 4... not 1, 3, 4, 2...
• Do work on only one side of the paper.
• Mark your results from the shown work clearly. ie: a circle, highlighting, etc.
• Put a space (a blank line) in between each problem.
• Staple everything together.

Grading (tentative)

• Grading Policy for lab reports
• Title page: Course title, section number, lab number, name, date, lab instructor.
• [5 points] Introduction.
• [5 points] Objective(s).
• [85 points] Procedure & Results.
• [5 points] Conclusion.
