UNIX and Linux System Administration Handbook, 4th Edition, Evi Nemeth, et al.

Learning Perl, 6th Edition, Randal Schwartz

 

Assignments and Exams::

Exams (3) 50%, Quizzes 10%          

Homework Exercise and Hands-on-Project 30% (Graduate Project)

Project: Install and configure Linux 10% (Ubuntu, check first for other versions)

 

Details:

·         Each week there will be a homework assignment that includes a chapter from Learning Perl and a hands-on-exercise. Homework assignments will be worth ten points, with a full ten points being awarded for assignments that are complete and turned in on time.   Late assignments will be accepted, but points will be deducted. All assignments are to be submitted through Web Campus.

·         Get a 3-ring binder to hold the handouts and your returned assignments to be saved for a future reference. 

·         There will be 3 quizzes announced in advance.  There are no makeup quizzes. Your lowest quiz score will be thrown out.

·         Students taking this class for graduate credit will also have a Graduate Project which includes a class presentation.

·         Additional readings may be assigned from Safari Books.

This class may be videotaped or audio recorded only with the written permission of the instructor. In order to accommodate students with disabilities, some students may have been given permission to record class lectures and discussions. Therefore, students should understand that their comments during class may be recorded.
