We discourage using FTP due to its insecure nature.
There are many alternatives to FTP:

If you have many files to transfer,
create a
Compressed Folder to combine them into one file first.
Here's a free version of zip that works with older versions of Windows.
- See if the party you need to transfer files with can post them
on their website. Have them create a free Google
website
- they can upload files (up to 100 Mb) to the new website
