Project Description:

This is a software system that plots time and location information from a database containing 911 call logs onto a map of Washoe County.  The user will be able to select ranges of dates and times to plot call locations onto the map to gain information on trends of locations that calls are coming from for a specific time of day, week, month or year.

The main purpose of this tool would be to assist emergency crews to place their available units at locations that would minimize the travel time to the location of the emergency.  To do this, the software would allow the user to enter in a number of available vehicles and the software would calculate the locations closest to the call hot spots for the current date and time.  The software will most likely be run from a PC at a 911 call center.

What can we do:

  • Analyze the past 911 call logs (location and time).

  • Show the result in graph and map

  • Predict where is the next phone call coming

  • Place the emergency crews in the right place

Note:

LANGUAGE: C++

GUI: GDI

DATABASE: Microsoft Access
