CPE 400/600 Computer Communication Networks

Using Wireshark packet sniffer tool perform the DNS analysis (page 191). Instructions are available on the Wireshark labs section of the text book website or under network labs on the WebCT.

Notes:

• You should read getting started section to learn how to use the Wireshark tool.
• You can download Wireshark version 1.0.3 for Windows from SourceForge. Version 1.1.0 might have some problems on Windows.
• Sourcecode is also available for Linux based machines. In this case you will need to install libpcap first.
• Make sure you set up filters so that you do not capture hundreds of unrelated packages. It is also highly suggested that you run experiments at your home network.
