Funny to some

You've reached my web page, by accident or otherwise. This is where I'm putting my research information.

I am currently in the Ph.D. program at UNR. My advisor is Sushil Louis. I am concentrating on Artificial Intelligence, specifically Evolutionary Computation. Within this field, I am currently interested in the automated evolution of tactics in simulated war-like scenarios (in the form of real-time strategy games, such as Starcraft).

The process gets broken down into two major parts- Representation and Learning. Representation could be considered the more difficult of the two. How a strategy or a tactic is represented as numeric data is challenging, and currently may be limited to a case-by-case representation. While I am currently looking at potential fields as a somewhat general mechanism, I believe that potential fields alone, without auxilliary data, will not provide good solutions. Determining what this additional data may be is a prime focus of my research.

With respect to learning, I am currently working with algorithms that would be considered Evolutionary Algorithms. I am specifically researching the use of co-evolutionary methods for improving tactics. So far, I have had some success, although there is much more work to be done.
