Education

- 1967
- Received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey
- 1971
- Received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics, with a specialty in computing and algorithms, from the University of Wyoming
Consulting Work

I worked as a consultant for Systems Development Corporation (1970 - 1971), Israeli Aircraft Industries
(1974 - 1976), and the World Bank (1990). I am currently a program evaluator for the Computing
Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET.
Teaching

I began my teaching career outside the United States as a faculty member at universities in
Israel and South Africa, and teaching as a visiting professor in China and Russia.
Within the country, I have taught courses at Southern Illinois University, as well as here,
at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Over the years, I have taught many courses - both undergraduate and graduate - covering most
areas of computing, including:

- Mathematics of Computer Science
Department Chair

From 1986 through 1992, I chaired the Computer Science Department at Southern Illinois University
in Carbondale, Illinois. Beginning in 1996, I have served as the Department Chair for the
Department of Computer Science & Engineering here at the University of Nevada, Reno, and continue to do so.
