I am Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Computer Science & Engineering Department of University of Nevada, Reno. I earned both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Computer Science Department of College of William and Mary, where I worked with Evgenia Smirni as well as Alma Riska from EMC. I also worked at Microsoft Research with Yuxiong He, Olatunji Ruwase, and Trishul Chilimbi and HP Labs with Lucy Cherkasova.

I have a broad research interest in Big Data/Machine Learning and System areas, as well as using these techniques to improve domain applications.
Research areas: Big Data, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Performance Evaluation, High Performance Computing, Storage, Cross-disciplinary Topics.
Recently focused topics: Machine Learning as a Service (MLaaS), AutoML/NAS, Serverless, Federated Learning, Large-scale Deep Learning, Workflow Optimization, Blockchain, Big Data/AI-driven Wildfire/Material/Pavement.

I am actively publishing at the most prestigious venues in Machine Learning (e.g., NIPS, KDD, AAAI, BMVC, etc.) and Computer Systems (e.g., SOSP, SC, HPDC, USENIX ATC, FAST, EuroSys, VLDB, IPDPS, Middleware, ICDCS, ICAC/ACSOS, etc.), as well as the rising top-quality venues in these fields, such as CLOUD, ICPE, etc. I am actively collaborating with industry to solve important yet challenging problems to generate real-world impact.
