Suggestions for good presentations
Scroll down for the schedule (last changed: 1:30 p.m. 2/5/02)
- Organize your presentation.
- Motivate your talk (why?). Why is this an interesting project?
Why should the audience be interested in the project? Why are you
interested? Summarize your talk.
- Explain how you are going to do your project. What is your
approach ? Why is this a good approach ? Are there similar products
out there? How are they similar, how are they different? Why is
your project special?
- Summarize your presentation. Why and how? Yes. It is a good
idea to summarize your talk at the beginning and at the end.
- Rehearse
- Make sure that the presentation fits the allotted time
- Ensure that you transition from team member to team member
smoothly (if you have transitions).
- Pick and choose the words you plan to say to clearly communicate
the idea that you are trying to get across. This is most
important. The right words to choose depend on the idea and the
audience. There are a dozen ways to say the same thing, but only one
or two will be suitable for your audience.
- Entertain
- Keep your audience interested and involved
- Get your audience's full attention
- Make it easy for your audience to pay attention to your
presentation.
