NeoCortical Builder

A web based application for creating brain models and running simulations on the NeoCortical Simulator

About NCB

The NeoCortical Builder is a Senior Project being developed at the University of Nevada, Reno, department of computer science, for the class Senior Projects, CS 426. Brains are complex systems that are difficult to fully understand. Scientists have been working to simulate brain activity on computer systems. The problem with this is brains are extremely complicated to model. The NeoCortical Simulator located in the Brain Computation Laboratory has used convoluted methods to model brains and create parameters for brain simulations. The previous method involved using text based model creation using .in files. These files are complicated to construct as they require very specific syntax that the user has to memorize, and NCB aims to fix this problem.

External Advisors

NCB has three external advisors, Dr. Fred Harris, head of the Brain Computation Lab, Dr. Sergiu Dascalu, CS 426 professor, and Mr. Nathan Jordan, graduate student advisor.
