Brief Biography

I am currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at California State University San Bernardino. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Scholar at University of Nevada Reno working with Dr. Lei Yang. I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UNR in Fall 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Lei Yang. Before that, I received both my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 2014 and University of Tabriz in 2011, respectively. My Ph.D. dissertation is entitled: Stochastic Learning and Optimization with Imperfect Data in Cyber-Physical Systems.

    April 2022: Our paper Data Imputation for Multivariate Time Series Sensor Data with Large Gaps of Missing Data has been accepted by IEEE Sensors Journal.

    March 2022: Our paper A Wireless Sensor Based Multi-layer Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Highly Correlated Human Activity Recognition has been accepted by IEEE IAS GlobConET 2022.

    February 2022: Our paper Real-time event detection using rank signatures of real-world PMU data has been accepted by IEEE PES General Meeting 2022.

    November 2021: Our paper Deep Reinforcement Learning-based Volt-Var Optimization in Distribution Grids with Inverter-based Resources has been accepted by North American Power Symposium (NAPS) 2021.

    September 2021: Our paper The Adaptation of Online Project-Based Learning in Computer Engineering Education Settings has been accepted by International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning 2021.

    April 2021: Our paper Event Cause Analysis in Distribution Networks using Synchro Waveform Measurements has been accepted by North American Power Symposium (NAPS) 2021.

    February 2021: Our papers PMU-data-driven event classification in power transmission grids and Low-rank tensor completion for PMU data recovery have been accepted by IEEE PES ISGT NA 2021.

    November 2020: Our paper Seasonal self-evolving neural networks based short-term wind farm generation forecast has been accepted by IEEE SmartGridComm 2020.

    October 2020: Our paper A Regularized Tensor Completion Approach for PMU Data Recovery has been accepted by IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.

    August 2020: Amir joined the CSE department at CSUSB as an Assistant Professor.
