Data Science Core
Summary/Abstract: Data Science Core The Nevada INBRE Data Science Core (NV INBRE DSC) aims to enhance biomedical research capacity statewide by providing robust, accessible, and sustainable data science infrastructure, research support, consultations, and training. Building on the foundation established during INBRE-4, the DSC has become a critical statewide resource by developing reproducible computational pipelines, expanding hands-on training opportunities, and building community through initiatives such as the Microbiome Research Bootcamp and the annual Data Science Conference. Moving into the next funding cycle, the DSC will align with national trends in data-intensive biomedical research, including artificial intelligence/machine learning (Al/ML), cloud-native workflows, and integrated multi-omics approaches. Simultaneously, by expanding support for foundational skills, reproducible research workflows, and secondary analysis of publicly available biomedical datasets, the DSC will lower barriers to data science engagement. Special emphasis will be placed on supporting faculty and students at Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (PUis), ensuring broadened access to data science resources across the network. The DSC's activities are organized into three interconnected aims: (1) Research Capacity Building through reproducible workflows, guided consultations, and customized project-driven support; (2) Training and Workforce Development through hands-on, hybrid, and asynchron
