The Office of Energy sets state energy policy, runs energy programs and distributes federal energy funding; it dates from 1975 and became cabinet-level in 2001. Programs include renewable-energy tax abatements (RETA), weatherization for seniors (HEROS), low-income solar (LISEP), and a set of IIJA and IRA formula programs. Humm was appointed Director effective 30 March 2026, after serving as Executive Director of the Cannabis Compliance Board and in policy roles at GOED.
