Member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Games Technical Committee. The TC coordinates research initiatives, organizes competitions, and promotes the development of computational intelligence techniques in game environments across the global IEEE community.
Organized and chaired the 2006 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Games (CIG 2006), held at the University of Nevada, Reno campus. CIG is the premier annual international conference for computational intelligence and AI research in the context of games. Active contributor to CIG program committees across multiple years.
Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Games (formerly IEEE Transactions on Computational Intelligence and AI in Games), the leading archival journal for AI and computational intelligence research applied to games. Responsible for managing peer review of submitted manuscripts in the areas of evolutionary computation, game AI, and simulation.
Broader Impact
For those interested in the broader context of AI in games research, Prof. Louis wrote a short essay on games, their impact on society, and on research at UNR. UNR also offers a Minor in Digital Interactive Games open to all UNR students, with courses spanning game engines, AI, graphics, HCI, and pattern recognition.
